Two people have died and three others are in critical condition following a multi-vehicle collision in the Bronx on Friday. The incident occurred when an 81-year-old driver of a white Mercedes Benz, traveling westbound on Allerton Avenue near Holland Avenue, failed to stop.
The driver first rear-ended two vehicles. Upon arrival at the scene around 2:15 p.m., NYPD officers discovered three unidentified pedestrians who were unconscious and unresponsive with significant trauma. These pedestrians were transported to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition, and sadly, two later succumbed to their injuries.
In addition to the pedestrians, the Mercedes Benz also struck two other vehicles. All six occupants of these vehicles remained at the scene and were taken to Jacobi Hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
